The Notice Board |
Me Hisako and Penny (Chinese friend) planned to enjoy
the Mud bath. So we went to Myoban in Monday morning. Hoyoland onsen in Myoban
area offers the Mud bath. Here they have outdoor mud bath (Doroyu), Outdoor
falling bath (Takiyu), Indoor mud bath, Indoor sulfur bath (Colloidyu), Indoor
steam bath (Mushiyu). Beppu Onsen Hoyoland is famous for its unique open air
mud bath. This is a mixed style bath. Men and women can enjoy the open air hot
mud bath together. Usually hot springs in Beppu are separate for men and women.
But this one is exceptional. They also have separated mud bath for men and
women in the inside facilities.
The Mud Pool |
We choose to go to the one reserved for women only. It
was really fun! There are two pools. We change cloths and jumped into the first
pool. The muddy sulfur mixed water was warm. We take bath here. It’s a kind of
preparation to go to the next stage. Then we walk down to the main pool. This
pool is filled with creamy thick mud. We covered our whole body with thick mud
just keeping our heads out. I felt very relaxed!
As they said, this mud filled paradise is directly
connected to a hot spring source. The mud contains various minerals along with
sulfur. We enjoyed sulfur smells. It is said that this mud bath is very good
for skin disease. After having the bath the skin becomes very smooth. I felt
smooth skin and sulfur smell even after a week of the bath! It was wonderful! Really
an unforgettable sensation! Here you can enjoy the steam bath for free. Just
pull out of mud pool take a shower and go the steam room.
Entrance of the Pool |
If you are in Beppu you must try the mud bath. Once
you are in the mud bath pool you will fill the difference. The best time for
enjoying mud bath is winter. It will be a great idea to enjoy snowing while
having soaked into hot muddy water in the open air of Myoban.
Get covered with mud relax
and enjoy your time!
